The Down East Community Hospital Rehabilitation Department was recently the recipient of a generous donation $8,800 from an anonymous donor.

Staff from both Calais Regional Hospital and Down East Community Hospital in Machias, have been working on a plan to provide quality OB/GYN services locally in Calais. 

The second annual Down East Community Hospital Hoops for Health is scheduled for December 1^st and 2^nd at the University of Maine Machias gymnasium.

The Emergency Department expansion and renovation is near completion.  To officially mark that milestone, DECH will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony.

On Wednesday providers came out in numbers for the provider education session on improving opioid prescribing and patient safety hosted by Down East Community Hospital and the Maine Medical Association. 

DECH was delighted to be approached by 8 year old Mia Mills who wanted to know how she could give to the Emergency Department. 

Over 150 community members came out to view the new Emergency Department at Down East Community Hospital last week. 

In 2015, members of the Machias Rotary donated their time and hard work to reclaim the beauty that once was the Hospital courtyard.  They weeded and cut back old growth and then planted hundreds of tulip bulbs.  Since then Master Gardener, Susan Carlton, has added her expertise along with many plants. 

Senator Angus King and Local Constituent Services Representative, Scott Wilkinson, visited Down East Community Hospital to talk about current healthcare legislation with Senior Leaders. 

Down East Community Hospital celebrated their volunteers and the DECH Auxiliary volunteers during Volunteer Recognition Week with a recognition luncheon at the Bluebird Restaurant.
