Providing comprehensive Cardiac, COPD, Emphysema services to the Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, and Down East regions of Maine.
The Down East Community Hospital Cardiopulmonary Department offers a variety of non-invasive tests and treatments on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
We treat patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, congestive heart failure (CHF), pneumonia and other cardiac and/or respiratory disorders.
Testing and treatments include:
- Electrocardiograms
- Holter Monitor Testing
- Home Sleep Studies
- Respiratory Care and Treatment
- Pulmonary Function Testing
- Cardiac Stress Test
- Echocardiograms
- Event Recorders
The Cardiopulmonary Department works closely with the Nuclear Medicine Department to provide Nuclear Cardiac Stress Testing. In addition, the department plays a key role in Ventilator Therapy.
We are fully staffed by Registered and Certified Respiratory Therapists.
How to Access Services
The Cardiopulmonary Department is open 7 days a week from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm. There is a Respiratory Therapist on-call after 7:30 pm each day for emergency coverage.
