Last fall, members of the Machias Rotary donated their time and hard work to reclaim the beauty that once was the Hospital courtyard.  They weeded and cut back old growth and then planted hundreds of tulip bulbs. 


The Muskie School of Public Service Patient Safety Academy will award Down East Community Hospital’s Quality Improvement Nurse, Erin Ingalls, RN, BSN, CNOR, CPPS, with their Rising Tide Award. 


Down East Community Hospital participated in green and blue day, one of several things done this month to bring awareness to the importance of organ and tissue donation.  April is Donate Life month, a celebration commemorating those who have given the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.


On January 2 at 10:04 pm Donald Therrien IV, weighing in at 6 lbs., 11 oz., became the first baby born at Down East Community Hospital for the year 2016.  Donald is the handsome son of Alicia Batson and Donald Therrien III of Addison.  Donald Therrien IV, not scheduled to be born until January 9, decided he would like to arrive a little sooner.
