On Monday, May 23, 2016, Tony McKim, President & CEO of First National Bank, met with DECH Board Chair, David Whitney, and DECH President & CEO, Dennis Welsh at First National Bank’s Bar Harbor branch to present them with a ceremonial $25,000 check representing their very generous donation to the DECH Emergency Department Expansion.


DECH is pleased to announce that they have recently signed a strategic network participant agreement with EMHS.


Ashley Whitman Curtis PT, DPT, MS, CKTP, a physical therapist at Down East Community Hospital, recently achieved the status of Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner.


On Friday, January 15 2016, Machias Saving Bank President and CEO, Larry Barker, presented a $250,000 donation to DECH Board Chair, David Whitney, and DECH President
and CEO, Dennis Welsh for the Emergency Department Expansion.


The staff at Milbridge Medical Center was recently recognized by the Maine Immunization Program for being one of 11 facilities to have reached the highest percentage for both males and females (11—18 years of age) who have received all three doses of HPV vaccine.



Mr. Corey Schwinn was voted onto the DECH Board of Trustees.  Corey is the Clinical Director for Sunrise Opportunities and also works as an independent contractor at the Washington County jail. 


Down East Community Hospital, BlueWater Emergency Partners, and Sunrise Opportunities come together to support the efforts of ARISE Addiction Recovery Inc. in improving access to addiction recovery services and recently presented ARISE founder, Paul Trovarello, with a donation in the amount of $7,500.


The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) is proud to honor Geri Bryant, Administrator of Sunrise Care Facility in Jonesport, Maine, as a 2016 recipient of the ACHCA Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award


The employees of A.C. Inc. on Beals Island proudly presented DECH Board Chair, David Whitney, with the $15,000 donation that put the Emergency Department Capital Campaign over the $1,000,000 mark.
 


Sue Dorr, a licensed social worker who started work at Down East Community Hospital in 1979 decided to retire after 36 years of service.
