The Down East Community Hospital
Cardiopulmonary Department offers a variety of non-invasive tests and treatments on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
We treat patients with
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (
COPD),
asthma, chronic bronchitis,
emphysema, pneumonia and other cardiopulmonary disorders.
Testing and treatments include:

Electrocardiograms

24-hour Holter Monitor Testing

Respiratory Care and Treatment,

Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)

Cardiac Stress Tests.

Echocardiograms

Event Recorders
The Cardiopulmonary Department works closely with the Nuclear Medicine Department to provide
Nuclear Cardiac Stress Testing. In addition, the department plays a key role in Ventilator Therapy.
Staff includes a Respiratory Therapists and Echocardiogram Technologists.
How to Access Services
The Cardiopulmonary Department is open 7 days a week from 7 am to 4:30 pm. There is a Respiratory Therapist on-call after 4:30 pm each day for emergency coverage. Through a partnership with North East Cardiology Associates, a Cardiac Pacer Clinic and a
Cardiology Clinic are offered approximately once a month. Echocardiograms are provided weekdays and on weekends.
