(Machias) Down East Community is pleased to welcome board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon Thomas Crowe, M.D., to our medical staff. Dr. Crowe comes to us from MainCoast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth where he practiced since 1993.
Dr. Crowe completed his Medical Doctorate Degree from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio and completed his residency in 1993 at the same university. Dr. Crowe has been certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery since 1995.
Dr. Crowe treats problems with bones and joints of the upper and lower extremities. Common problems he addresses in clued: athletic injuries, fractures, arthritis and cumulative trauma injuries such as bursitis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel and other nerve compressions. Commonly performed surgeries include: total reconstruction of knee, hip, and shoulder, and many types of other bone and soft tissue procedures. Many orthopedic conditions can be treated non-operatively. Even operative care can be done with less invasive techniques such as arthroscopic surgery. Since arthroscopic surgery incisions are small, the patient benefits by having a faster healing time, less chance of complications, and less chance of infection.
Dr. Crowe and his wife, Nancy, love the beauty of the area and are settling down nicely in Jonesport. Dr. Crowe enjoys hiking, fly fishing, bird watching, reading, and playing the piano.
“I look forward to working with the dedicated, competent staff at Down East Community Hospital and with Doug Jones with whom I have already had the pleasure of working with for several years,” commented Dr. Crowe.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Crowe to Down East Community,” stated president and CEO Doug Jones. “We look forward to learning from his experience as a leader in the field of orthopedic surgery, as well as to the contributions he will make in advancing patient care.”
Dr. Crowe welcomes new patients. His office is located on the Hospital campus beside the Robertson building. For an appointment call 255-0404.
